Explore the Fleet
For 84 years, trams were part of everyday life in Ballarat — carrying workers to their jobs, families into town and visitors around the growing city. Today, many of those very vehicles live on in our collection.
Most of the trams at the Ballarat Tramway Museum once operated on Ballarat’s streets and were a familiar sight to generations of residents. These beautifully preserved vehicles are more than transport; they are moving pieces of history. Many continue to operate along the original 1887 tram route in Wendouree Parade, allowing visitors to experience them as they were intended — in motion.
Each tram has its own story. We invite you to explore detailed information about every vehicle in our fleet, including its history, significance and technical features, and discover how each one has contributed to Ballarat’s rich tramway heritage.
Our Trams
Each tram in our collection has its own unique story — from its years in passenger service to its restoration and preservation by our volunteers. Some have travelled the streets of Ballarat, while others began life in Melbourne before becoming part of our heritage fleet.
Browse the tram profiles below to learn more about their history, design features and role within the Museum. Whether operating, under restoration or on display, every tram represents an important chapter in Victoria’s tramway story.
